Dundee United are pleased to confirm the appointment of Ross Goodwin as our new Head of Recruitment.

With a strong background in data and analytics, Ross arrives at Tannadice from EFL Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle.

Immediately after embarking on his South coast adventure in 2022, the 28-year-old supportedthe construction of a squad which stormed to the League One title, amassing a staggering 101 points to end a 13-year absence from the second tier. The Pilgrims also reached the EFL Trophy Final - their furthest run in the competition to date.

Ross continued to expand his recruitment network throughout his spell at Home Park, implementing a data-driven scouting strategy which identified and procured numerous up-and-coming stars from various countries across the globe, including Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Hungary, Germany and Austria.

The influx of continental talent were given a platform to perform, and many of his new additions would represent their respective national teams.

Plymouth grabbed worldwide headlines when they dumped eventual Premier League champions, Liverpool, out of the FA Cup in February, with many of the starting XI brought to Devon by our new Head of Recruitment.

Two standout captures include Sierra Leonean frontman Mustapha Bundu, who boasts 13 goals and six assists this term, and Morgan Whittaker - sold to Middlesborough for £5 million during the winter window.

Ross expressed his satisfcation in beginning his Tannadice career, saying "I'm delighted to be joining one of Scotland’s biggest and most historic clubs.

"Following a terrific season in which we qualified for European competition, we must ensure we continue to plan for the future whilst appreciating current success, and my role in that is to further the ambitions of the club by unearthing talented players.”
